So our theme for group project is Emotive Design. Iv already began looking into a few different areas and I’m torn between them. I would love to do something in either Light Art, Augmented or Alternate reality. I like the idea of light art and have thought of a few projects based on emotion but I am fascinated by the other two. I like the idea of the user being immersed completely in the project and I don’t want to do something that involves just sitting at a computer. After listening to other peoples ideas I am also looking into them. I think a lot more research is needed before I will settle on one particular area.

Portfolio inspiration
As part of our group project assignment this year we also have to create a Personal Portfolio Website. This to me seemed daunting at first as Web Development is definitely my weakest subject. However I would like to learn HTML5 and CSS3 and this would give me the push to do just that. I would feel safer having a backup already created in Flash in case of any massive problems but I feel I could put this together quite easily.
I have been looking at design portfolios and as my two strongest subjects are design and programming I would like to try and include them both. I have been considering designing the site in the style of the artistic and technological side colliding and have done a few rough sketches but nothing too detailed as of yet. I am hoping to develop a more concrete idea this weekend and research it.
In regards to the HTML5 and CSS3 I have looked at it and found many tutorials but until I have a definite idea of what I would like my site to do I wouldn’t know where to begin. I would like the site to be interactive. I feel that if the site is fun people will engage more with it.
Some of the Portfolio sites I have found engaging are:
- http://www.jessewillmon.com I found the simplicity and cartoon style quite enjoyable
- http://oddwebthings.com/portfolio/ I liked the odd style of this one
- http://djnr.net I dont think this one would suit what I want to do but for an Audio portfolio I found the navigation quite clever
- http://iondrimbafilho.com/#/HOME I love the cube style navigation
- http://www.loungelizard.com I liked the simple putting out and relighting of the candle feature. It was very random but it made the site stand out. Unlike some of the others this site also had a version for if you did not have flash player
There was another site where you drew pictures to navigate which I found interesting but hard to use. I cant find the link but I will try and post it at a later date
